Happy Birthday to Me...

It's easy for Manning to loose track of days and times - especially birthdays - (by now I know his MO - I've been married to this great guy for 18 years ;+} - he's exceptional when it comes to fixing things and a master with electrical tape so let me be clear about that).  Not surprising though we have lost our sense of a calendar when we were focused on so many other things in getting ourselves acclimated. We really are running on a different schedule here (almost a lack of one - except when we know we have to take or pickup the kids at school). But now a days with Facebook in the technology and social media mix - you are reminded - so those who posted thanks for the warm wishes. So, with a little hint to Parker at about 4:30 p.m. when I was certain the day was really going to slip by (here in Dakar)  - I said "Did you know it's someone's birthday today and it's not yours, your brothers or Manning's".   "Tonight you could possibly have cake for desert "- wink wink - if you get the message - having gotten the hint - and shedding a very cute smile with a complete understanding of the situation - Parker quickly moves into action. The boys tell me they are having Manning take them to a new friend who lives nearby (which is true). "Okay" "Sounds good" "I'll just stay here!" "Yeah, mom, just sit back and relax".  They return telling me their friend was not at his apartment. "Okay".  Obviously their deed is done.

Dinntertime.

Surprise - Happy Birthday!

Thank you so much -Parker, Addison and Manning for the beautiful mocha/chocolate cake and ice cream - raspberry sorbet and mint chocolate chip.

Scrumptiously good!
